
The disciplinary committee of the Bangladesh Football Federation imposed a six-month ban on Bashundhara Kings defender Saad Uddin with Tk 50,000 penalty for physically assaulting the match commissioner Sujit Banerjee during his side’s Bangladesh Premier League match against Abahani Limited at the Kings Arena on May 2.Â
The 26-year-old Saad from Sylhet reportedly grabbed the match official’s throat after receiving a red card during the match. As a result, he will not be eligible to take part in any BFF-sanctioned competitions in this period.Â
The committee also handed a series of sanctions to Kings and their officials following the misconduct committed the club personnel in the match against Abahani.Â
Despite the committee meeting being held on Wednesday, the BFF disclosed the decisions in the early hours on Friday.
Kings assistant coach Mahabubur Rahman Roxy has been suspended for four matches for making an indecent gesture towards Abahani officials during the same game.
In addition to the ban on individuals, the Kings have been directed to host their next six home matches without any fans in attendance.
‘As per BFF disciplinary code 24, the next six home matches of Bashundhara Kings will be staged without spectators or supporters due to the repeated indisciplined activities by the spectators or supporters,’ BFF media release stated.Â
The BFF officials will monitor the home matches of Kings for the next six months, and further punishment will come into effect, if there is any unruly behavior committed by their fans, added the release.
Meanwhile, in the second-tier Bangladesh Championship League, referees were also assaulted by club officials and players in three separate matches between April 30 and May 11.
The committee has issued different amount of fines to City Club, Farashganj SC, and Wari Club, and also imposed bans on involved officials and players for different periods.
