The Bangladesh women’s national football team moved seven places up to 132nd in the latest FIFA rankings as the world football’s governing body revealed the current rankings on Friday.
Bangladesh, who won their second SAFF Women’s Championship title in October, were placed 139th in the last updated rankings in August.
But they gained 21.34 points after their wins over India, Bhutan, and Nepal and a draw against Pakistan in the SAFF Women’s Championship to accumulate a total of 1097.55 points, the highest number of rankings points in the country’s history.
Despite a significant gain in the rankings, Bangladeshi women remain well behind India and Nepal, who are ranked 69th and 103rd, respectively.
The four other South Asian nations—Pakistan (157), Sri Lanka (158), Maldives (163), and Bhutan (172)—are all behind Bangladesh.
