A low pressure area is likely to form over North Bay and adjoining Central Bay of Bengal  on October 1, according to Bangladesh Meteorological Department.

The well-marked low over Northwest Bay and adjoining Central Bay moved west-northwestwards which intensified into a depression on Friday crossed South Odisha-North Andhra Pradesh coasts at 6:00am on Saturday.


Now the low pressure lies over South Odisha and adjoining area as a land depression, said a Met office bulletin.

It is likely to move nearly westward direction further and weaken gradually.

A mild heat wave is sweeping over Rangpur, Sylhet divisions and Rajshahi, Bogura and  Chuadanga districts and it may abate.

The axis of monsoon troughs runs through East Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, the center of the land Depression to Assam across southern part of Bangladesh, it said.

Monsoon is less active over Bangladesh and moderate to strong over North Bay.

‘Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely at a few places over Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and at one or two places over Rangpur, Rajshahi & Dhaka divisions with moderately heavy falls at places over the country,’ it said.

Day and night temperature may fall slightly over the country.
