The Election Commission has approved the final roadmap for the 13th National parliamentary elections and is set to publish it on Thursday, according to the commission’s senior secretary Akhtar Ahmed.

Speaking at a press briefing on Wednesday at the EC media centre in the capital’s Agargaon area, he said that the long-awaited roadmap would be unveiled the following day.

‘We have prepared the work plan. Please wait until tomorrow (Thursday) for its announcement,’ the EC secretary said.

Earlier, election commissioner Abdur Rahmanel Masud said that the commission had already approved the roadmap and that it would be made public within a couple of days.

He also mentioned that the polls were expected to be held in the first half of February, with the election schedule likely to be announced in the first half of December, two months before the elections. Preparations for the election are underway.

The commission is working on 24 key components, including updating the voter list, conducting training, setting up polling centres, finalising the panel of polling officials, preparing manuals, reforming electoral laws, and procuring necessary materials.
