Vice-chancellor of Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology Professor Mahmud Abdul Matin Bhuiyan at a programme in Chattogram on Thursday said that the country must be taken forward through modern knowledge and science.
He made the remark while addressing as chief guest at the orientation programme for the undergraduate course of the academic year 2024鈥�25 at the Central Auditorium of CUET, said a press release.
鈥楿niversities are areas for the development of free thought. Knowledge and technology are invented in universities through the practice of knowledge and research. Through these research findings, students become assets for the whole world. As a result, the world continues to progress,鈥� he said.
聽He added, 鈥榃e want to make our country a developed country in knowledge and science in the world. We have to take the country and the nation forward through the practice of modern knowledge and science.鈥�
We have to prepare now to face the challenges of the fourth industrial revolution and artificial intelligence, he mentioned, giving importance to technical skills, problem-solving ability and creativity in education system.
鈥楢t the same time, we need to increase coordination between industrial institutions, government and educational institutions to develop skilled human resources suitable for the workplace,鈥� he said.
Mentioning that the people of the country are looking at the talented new generation today, he said, 鈥楾hey are the ones who will be able to bring smiles to people鈥檚 faces and build a developed Bangladesh.鈥�
鈥榃e must be big in thinking and consciousness,鈥� he said.
Professor Sudip Kumar Pal, dean of the faculty of civil and environmental engineering; Professor AH Rashadul Hossain, dean of the faculty of science and technology; Professor Kazi Afzalur Rahman, dean of the faculty of mechanical and manufacturing; Professor Muhammad Rashidul Hasan, dean of the faculty of architecture and planning; and registrar, additional responsibilities, Professor Sheikh Mohammad Humayun Kabir, among others, were present at the programme.
