The Higher Secondary Certificate and equivalent examinations of July 22 and July 24, postponed in the wake of the fighter jet crash, will be held in August.

A press release, issued by the Bangladesh Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee on Wednesday evening, said that the postponed exams of July 10, 17, 22 and 24 would be held on August 12, 14, 17 and 19.


HSC and equivalent examinations scheduled for July 10 and 17 were postponed for separate reasons.

Earlier on Wednesday afternoon, however, education adviser Professor Chowdhury Rafiqul Abrar said that the postponed examinations of July 22 and July 24 would be held on the same day, in the morning and afternoon.

According to the new schedule mentioned in the release, the July 10’s postponed HSC exams on physics (theory 1st paper), accounting (1st paper) and logic (1st paper) will be held on August 12.

The July 17’s postponed exams on geography (theory 2nd paper) will be held on August 14.

The July 22’s postponed exams on chemistry (theory 2nd paper), Islamic history and culture (humanities group), history (2nd paper), home management and family life (2nd paper), and production management and marketing (2nd paper) will be held on August 17.

The July 24’s exams on economics (1st paper), and engineering drawing and workshop practice (1st paper) will be held on August 19.

The August 19’s engineering drawing and workshop practice (1st paper) exam will be held in the examinees’ own colleges.

The practical tests of all subjects will be held between August 21 and August 31. The acting officials will have to submit the numbers of the practical tests online by September 3. 

The Bangladesh Madrassah Education Board and Bangladesh Technical Education Board also published separate schedules for the postponed exams.

The HSC and its equivalent exams, began on June 26, were scheduled to end by August 21.

The education ministry postponed the HSC and equivalent exams to be held on July 22 and today (Thursday/July 24) across the country as tragedy unfolded after a Bangladesh Air Force jet crashed on a building of Milestone School and College at Uttara in the city on July 21, killing 32 people, mostly students, and injuring over 150.

HSC and equivalent exams were also postponed on several occasions this year.

Earlier, the government, on July 16 night, postponed the exams in Gopalganj district for July 17, in the context of the overall law and order situation.

Before that the authorities on the night of July 9 postponed the HSC and its equivalent exams under the madrassah and the technical boards for July 10 across the country over inclement weather.

Due to the same reason, the Cumilla education board also issued a public notice on July 9, postponing the HSC exams for July 10 to be held in the institutions under its jurisdiction.
