The government on Thursday appointed professor ABM Badruzzaman as the vice-chancellor of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology and professor ABM Obaidul Islam as the VC of Bangladesh Open University.
The government also appointed pro-vice-chancellors of Dhaka University and BUET.
The secondary and higher education division under education ministry issued four separate circulars in this regard.
One of the circulars read that following the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology Ordinance-1961, professor ABM Badruzzaman of civil engineering department of the university was appointed as the VC of BUET.
Another education ministry circular read that following the Bangladesh Engineering and Technological University Ordinance-1961, professor Abdul Hasib Chowdhury of electrical and electronic engineering department of the university, was appointed as the pro-VC of BUET for the next four years.
Another circular read that following the Bangladesh Open University Act-1992, professor ABM Obaidul Islam of physics department of DU was appointed as the VC of BOU.
The conditions for both of the newly appointed VCs are their appointments will be in effect from the day of their joining, for the post they will get salary and other benefits as per their present posts, they will get other facilities as per the rules, they will stay on the respective campuses always as the chief executive officers and the president, also the chancellor can cancel their appointments anytime if necessary.
