Khulna were in firm control of their National Cricket League’s third-round match against Chattogram at the Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Cricket Stadium in Chattogram on Monday.
Chattogram were restricted to 166 in their second innings, following a brilliant bowling effort from Mahedi Hasan (3-56) and Mehedi Hasan Rana (3-47), giving Khulna a target of 237 runs to win.
Khulna reached 52-0 at stumps on Day 3 with openers Soumya Sarkar and Amit Mojumder remained unbeaten on 34 and 10 runs respectively.
Resuming the day on 249-8, Khulna were bowled out for just 281 to trail by 70 runs in reply to Chattogram’s 351 in the first innings.
At the Cox’s Cricket Academy, the match between Dhaka and Mymensingh was heading towards a draw as bad light brought a pre-mature end to the day’s play.
Resuming the day on 17-0, Dhaka reached 225-4, still trailing by 111 runs in response to Mymensingh’s 336 in their first innings.
Opener Joyraj Sheikh made 77, with seven fours while Ashikur Rahman Shibli scored 46. Marshal Ayub was batting on 56 with Taibur Rahman on four.
However, the match between Rajshahi and Barishal was evenly poised at the Khulna Divisional Stadium.
Barishal’s second innings ended on 268 after Fazle Mahmud’s fighting 69, aided by four boundaries, while Rajshahi’s Ali Mohammad Walid returned with the figure of 3-57.
Rajshahi reached 5-0, as they still required 241 runs for victory.
Opener Mubin Ahmed struck a half-century as Sylhet Division took a 127-run lead against Rangpur Division at the Cox’s Bazar Cricket Stadium.
Sylhet reached 173-5 at stumps, with Mubin unbeaten on 76.
Earlier, resuming on 187-8, Sylhet were bowled out for 199 in their first innings.
Rangpur then replied with 245, taking a 46-run lead, thanks to Robiul Hoque Robi’s 70-run knock.
Pacer Abu Jayed Rahi claimed 4-46 for Sylhet.
