Bangladesh U-19 team suffered a 102-run defeat to their Afghanistan counterparts in the third of the five Youth ODIs at the Shaheed Kamruzzaman Stadium in Rajshahi on Wednesday.
Afghanistan set a target of 276 runs after opting to bat first and then restricted the junior Tigers to 173 in 37.3 overs to level the series 1-1, despite Kalam Siddiki and Rizan Hossan鈥檚 half-centuries.
Al Fahad gave Bangladesh the breakthrough in the third over, but Afghanistan took control of the game, with skipper Mahboob Khan scoring an unbeaten 68 off 78, including six boundaries.
Uzairullah Niazai and Osman Sadat made crucial 31 and 26 runs, respectively.
Fahad finished with 2-52 while Azizul Hakim returned with the best bowling figure of 2-41.
Chasing the target, Bangladesh鈥檚 top-order wobbled until Rizan and Kalam gave some respite, as the duo added a 93-run partnership for the fourth wicket.
Rizan鈥檚 dismissal triggered a collapse as Bangladesh lost the remaining wickets for just 35 runs, thanks to Zaitullah Shaheen, who took 4-40 while Wahidullah Zadran took 3-23.
Rizan scored 52 off 50 balls, with three fours and four sixes while Kalam top scored with 71 off 79 deliveries, featuring eight boundaries and a six.
The fourth match is scheduled on November 7.
