Rangpur defeated Chattogram by four wickets in the second qualifier to reach the National Cricket League T20 final at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Friday.

Defending champions Rangpur will face Khulna in the final on Sunday at the same venue.

After being invited to bat first, Chattogram posted 167-3 in 20 overs on a batting surface, while Rangpur cruised to 171 in the allotted overs, securing their place in the final for the second consecutive time.

Chasing the target, Rangpur got off to a flying start with Nasir Hossain and Jahid Javed putting together a 76-run partnership.

Jahid played a steady 35 off 28, aided by three fours and a six, while Nasir, who was promoted to open, struck four boundaries and three sixes to anchor the innings.

Nasir scored 54 off 41 before being dismissed by Md Rubel, just after reaching fifty.

After his dismissal, captain Akbar Ali guided Rangpur with a 21-ball 40, while Abdullah al Mamun contributed 14 off 9 balls.

Rangpur had to deal with drama when they required 10 runs in the final two overs, as Mominul Haque took two wickets in the 19th over to dismiss Akbar and Nasum Ahmed for a duck.

Ashraful Hasan came to bowl the final over, and he kept it tight, conceding just two runs in five deliveries. However, Naeem Islam, who was on strike, hit a boundary to give a nervy finish.

Hasan Murad (2-30) and Mominul (2-7) each took two wickets for Chattogram.

Earlier, Yasir Ali and Sadikur Rahman hit half-centuries and added an unbeaten 88-run partnership to propel Chatogram to set a challenging total after a slow start.

Opener Mahmudul Hasan fell after scoring 28 off 27, while Mominul Haque was run out for nine runs. Shahadat Hossain (seven) also had a brief stay, being trapped lbw off Alauddin Babu.

Yasir hammered a 27-ball 53, featuring five fours and two sixes to accelerate their innings, finding support from Sadikur, who made a cautious 58 off 48 with three boundaries and a six, but eventually went in vain.

Rangpur鈥檚 Mohammad Enamul (2-29) and Alauddin (1-29) picked up one wicket each.
