Bangladesh Under-15 boys beat Bangladesh Women鈥檚 Green team after a super over thriller at the BKSP-3 in the ongoing Women鈥檚 Challenge Cup on Tuesday.聽
With the win, U-15 boys remained unbeaten in four matches and clinched the title with one match left in the series.聽
Chasing 185, the Green team needed five runs from the last six deliveries in the regulation match with three wickets remaining.聽
They managed only four by losing two wickets in the proceedings to end the match in a tie.聽
Women鈥檚 Green then scored only four runs in the super over, while the U-15 boys needed just two balls to go past that. Captain Bayzid Bostami hit his counterpart Nahida Akter for a six in the second ball to seal the match.聽
Earlier, Afridi Tariq and Afzal Hossain helped U-15 boys to post 185-6 in 50 overs from a precarious position of 41-5.聽
Afridi scored 50 off 83, while Afzal made 67 off 103. They were well supported by number eight, Pronob Mondol, who scored 24 off 18 balls.聽
Nishita Akter, who got a call-up to the World Cup squad, took 2- 29 runs, while Nahida, Farzana Yeasmin, Sultana Khatun, and Rabeya Khan each took one.聽
In reply, opener Sharmin Akter (36) and number three Rubya Haider (33) made good progress after losing Farzana Haque early.聽
Shorna Akter (21) and Nahida (26*) rebuilt after Sobhana Mostary and Taj Nehar fell cheaply in the middle order.聽
Nahida remained unbeaten but could only watch her team fail to get over the line. She then came to bat in the super over too but managed only a single from the two balls faced.聽
Afridi took 3-23 in the main match, while Amit Kumar and Sulaiman Islam each took one wicket. Sulaiman then bowled the super over to give away just four runs while taking the wicket of Sobhana.聽
