The Bangladesh national team was given a green signal by the government to tour Pakistan for a five-match T20I series, confirmed the Bangladesh Cricket Board on Thursday.Ìý

The series was originally supposed to begin on May 25 but was likely to be pushed back as the Pakistan Super League had been rescheduled.Ìý

The PSL is set to resume on Saturday and will host its final on May 25. It was postponed due to the conflict between Pakistan and India, which put the series with Bangladesh under uncertainties.Ìý

The BCB earlier said that they were in continuous discussion with the Pakistan Cricket Board regarding the forthcoming tour.Ìý

‘The BCB wishes to reiterate that the safety and security of its players and support staff remain the Board's highest priority,’ it said.Ìý

On Thursday, it was confirmed that they got the green signal from the government of the country.Ìý

But the BCB would leave the decision to the players and coaches whether they want to tour Pakistan, according to the chairman of the media committee of the BCB, Iftekhar Ahmed.Ìý

‘The government has given us the green signal. We will now ask the players. This is not upon us. This is not our decision. The government said that we could go. But it’s an individual decision,’ Iftekhar told ¶¶Òõ¾«Æ· on Thursday.Ìý

It was learnt that the PCB were yet to give their Bangladesh counterparts the full proposed schedule of the series. But it could start on May 27.Ìý

The Bangladesh national team is currently in the UAE, where they will play a two-match T20I series starting on Saturday. Both matches will be held in Sharjah.Ìý

This will be the first series after Liton Das was announced as the full-time captain of the format.Ìý

This will also mark the return of the national team to the T20I format after last playing against the West Indies in December last year.Ìý
