Anamul Haque hit 144, his second hundred in three matches as Gazi Group Cricketers beat Gulshan Cricket Club by four wickets in the ongoing Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League at the BKSP-4 on Tuesday.

In what was the last match day before the Eid-ul-fitr break, Anamul鈥檚 142-ball hundred helped Gazi reach 283-8 in 48.2 overs after Gulshan made 281-8 in the stipulated overs.


Liton Das struck 83 off 62 balls with seven fours and five sixes while opener Azizul Hakim made 53 to guide the Gulshan club to a decent total before Anamul, who smashed 11 boundaries and three sixes, almost single-handedly took Gazi home.

The victory of Gazi, however, did not come as easily as it seemed, as the club almost lost their way, losing three wickets in quick succession after Anamul and Sadikur Rahman (45) put on 106 for the first wicket.

Anamul, who has now five fifty-plus innings in his last six matches, stood firm amid free fall of wickets to ensure Gazi鈥檚 sixth win in the league, with eight balls in hand.聽

Samiun Bashir Ratul, who took five wickets before scoring 40 runs, was the star of the show as Legends of Rupganj thrashed Rupganj Tigers by a massive margin of 172 runs at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in the day鈥檚 another match.

Put into bat first, Rupganj, made 298-6 in 50 overs with opener Tanzid Hasan scoring 61 off 59 with 11 fours. Rupganj struggled to build partnerships in the middle before Jaker Ali took charge.聽

The wicketkeeper-batter remained unbeaten on 73 off 85 balls as he added 48, 91, and 56 runs for the fourth, fifth and sixth wicket with Afif Hossain, Samiun, and Mahedi Hasan (35 off 15 not out) respectively.

Opener Abdul Majid held one end but the Tigers kept losing wickets at regular intervals before they were all out for 126 in 42.2 overs.

Left-arm spinner Samiun took 5-27 with three maidens while Tanvir Islam and Tanzim Hasan took two wickets each.聽

In the day鈥檚 other match, Brothers Union registered their second win of the season as they beat Partex Sporting Club by 29 runs at the BKSP-3.聽

Brothers managed 225-9 in 50 overs thanks to Zahiduzzaman Khan鈥檚 47 and Sohag Gazi鈥檚 42. Mohor Sheikh, Tanvir Hossain, and Jawad Royen all took two wickets each.聽

Partex were restricted to 196 in 48.1 overs with Ahrar Amin (56) and Alauddin Babu (68 off 46) fought hard but couldn鈥檛 take their team home.

Jayed Ullah was the pick of the bowlers for Brothers with 3-24 while Al-Amin Hossain, Rahatul Ferdous, and Alok Kapali took two wickets each.
