Bangladesh ended their Women’s Under-19 T20 World Cup campaign on a high note, beating the West Indies by 10 wickets in their last Super Six match at the Bayuemas Oval, Kuala Lumpur, on Tuesday.
Off-spinner Nishita Akter Nishi and Anisa Akter Soba shared five wickets between them to restrict West Indies to 54-6 after the match was reduced to 13 overs due to rain.
Bangladeshi girls then chased down the below-par target in just 8.5 overs, securing third spot in Group 1 behind India and Australia.
Bangladesh were already out of the semi-final contention, following their eight-wicket loss to India in their first Super Six match on Sunday.
After being put into bat first, only three West Indies batters could reach double figures, with Amrita Ramtahal scoring the highest 16 runs.
Nishi picked up three wickets, Soba scalped two, while Jannatul Maoua took one wicket for Bangladesh.
In their chase, Bangladesh openers Juairiya Ferdous struck 25 and Fahomida Choya scored 14, aided by the 16 runs given away in wides by the West Indies bowlers.
The West Indies ended up at the bottom of the Super Six table with four losses.
