
Left-arm spinner Nahida Akter shone with the ball on the opening day of the Women鈥檚 Bangladesh Cricket League - the first-ever three-day first-class competition in the country - as the Central Zone cricketer claimed 7-48 against North Zone during the opening round match at the Shaheed Kamruzzaman Stadium in Rajshahi on Saturday.
However, despite Nahida鈥檚 brilliance, North Zone declared their first innings at 240-9 with opener Farzana Haque top scoring with 86 off 246 balls while Ritu Moni also making 57 runs after they elected to bat first.
Central Zone finished at 29-0 at stumps.
Meanwhile, in the other match at the Bangla Trac Cricket Academy Ground, Sharmin Akther Supta struck 88 off 101 balls but East Zone could only manage 193 runs in their first innings after South Zone sent them to bat first.
Ayesha Rahman then made an unbeaten 82 off 120 balls while RH Jhelik scored 38 not out as South Zone finished the opening day at 164-1, trailing East Zone only by 29 runs in the first innings.
