The Police Headquarters on Tuesday said that 48,134 police personnel completed special training on election duties as part of the preparations for the forthcoming national election expected to be held by mid-February 2026.
Electoral training programmes are under way to enhance skills and capabilities of police personnel to carry out their duties professionally in the parliamentary elections, it said, adding that about 1,50,000 police personnel would serve in the field level during the elections.
‘Each of their activities will be monitored at the national and international levels. The main goal of electoral training is to make every police personnel efficient and disciplined through the training,’ said a release.
A training of the trainers was held from August 31 to September 2.
The inspector general of police, Baharul Alam, has issued special instructions to all unit heads of the police to conduct the ongoing election training with close supervision.
He visited Rajshahi and Bogra on Sunday to inspect the field-level electoral training activities.
He exchanged views with the trainee police personnel at the training workshops and provided necessary guidance, said the press release.
‘Bangladesh Police has made all kinds of preparations to hold the upcoming national parliamentary elections in a free, fair, impartial and festive atmosphere,’ said the press release.
On September 7, the home adviser retired lieutenant general Jahangir Alam Chowdhury inaugurated the electoral training program at the Bangladesh Police Auditorium in Dhaka’s Rajarbagh.
The on-going electoral training will continue until mid-January.
