West Indies announced the squad for the upcoming two-match Test series against Bangladesh on Saturday, without the all-rounder Jason Holder, who is undergoing rehabilitation for his shoulder injury.
Alzarri Joseph, the fast bowler, also returned to the Test fold after he was rested for the South Africa games as part of this workload management.
Meanwhile, off-spinner Kevin Sinclair returned to the side after recovering from an injury that ruled him out from the South Africa series in August.
Right-arm quick Anderson Phillip also returned to the side, having last played a Test in December 2022 in Australia. Phillip recently took nine wickets in a match for Lancashire against Worcestershire.
The spinning duo of Gudakesh Motie and the uncapped Bryan Charles were also included in the squad.
‘We expect the series against Bangladesh to be a competitive one between two emerging squads,’ head coach Andre Coley said upon announcing the squad.
‘The build up to the series, through the two-day warm-up match and training camp will provide us with the best possible preparation, as they will afford opportunities for both experienced and emerging players to fine-tune their skills ahead of the Test series’, he added.
The series is scheduled to begin on November 22 with the first Test at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua. The second Test will start on November 30 at the Sabina Park in Jamaica.
Kraigg Brathwaite will continue to captain the series. He will also lead a CWI Select XI, a 13-man squad, for the two-day warm-up match against Bangladesh, scheduled for 17 and 18 November at the CWI-owned Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua.
