ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice reassured on Sunday that the prize money for the winning team in the forthcoming ICC T20 Women’s World Cup will be the same as the winning side of a men’s T20 World Cup.
Allardice stated this in Dhaka during the announcement of the fixture of the upcoming Women’s T20 World Cup, which will begin on October 3 in Bangladesh.Â
The marquee competition, which includes ten teams, will be concluded on October 20, with the final taking place in Dhaka.
‘In terms of ICC prize money, for the team that wins, the amount of prize money allocated to the team that wins the women’s T20 will be the same as the amount of prize money that’s allocated to the team that wins the men’s T20 World Cup,’ said the ICC chief executive.
‘So, if you finish first, you’ll get the same amount of money. If you win a match, the same amount of match pay will be there. So, there is parity in prize money between men’s and women’s games.’
Bangladesh, who are going to host the global event in the country’s two different venues, Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka and Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, are slated in Group B, where they will be playing against England, South Africa, West Indies, and Qualifier 2 at SBNS.
On the contrary, the defending champions Australia, who are slated for Group A, will be vying against India, New Zealand, Pakistan, and Qualifier 1, with matches taking place in Sylhet.
