
Bangladesh women’s national team conceded a second successive defeat to go 2-0 down in their five-match Twenty20 International series against India in Sylhet as they lost the second game by 19 runs (D/L method) on Tuesday.
Batting first, Bangladesh were bowled out for 119 in their 20 overs as Murshida Khatun scored 46.
In reply, India lost Shafali Verma for a duck in the first over to Marufa Akter but Dayalan Hemalatha’s 41 runs off 24 balls saw India race to 47-1 in 5.2 overs, when rain interrupted the match, leading to no further play and the match going in India’s pocket.
Earlier in the day, batting first, Bangladesh were off to another poor start as they lost Dilara Akter (10) in the second over.
Murshida and Sobhana Mostary (19) tried to recover the situation adding 28 runs for the second wicket but after the latter was trapped LBW, Bangladesh lost three wickets in six balls to see themselves reduced to 69-5.
Murshida then added 32 runs with Ritu Moni (20) for the sixth wicket, handing Bangladesh some hope of reaching 130 but that was not to be as Ritu fell, and the last four overs produced only 16 runs.
Murshida, who missed out on a fifty, got run out in the final over, and Fariha Trishna, the number 11, was bowled after failing to score in five balls, leading to Bangladesh being bowled out for 119.
Radha Yadav picked up three wickets for India, while Deepti Sharma and Shreyanka Patil picked up two each.
