The University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh held an engaging panel discussion, featuring linguists, community activists, and cultural representatives as the culminating session of a 3-day student workshop on Saturday.

The event was facilitated by David A Peterson, senior linguistics fellow at the department of English and humanities, ULAB, and associate professor of linguistics, Dartmouth College, USA, said a press release.


During the panel discussion, community language activist Samar M Soren, founder and head, language resource hub, Mashrur Imtiaz of Dhaka University, Asifa Sultana of BRAC University, Nukraching Marma, director, KNSI- Bandarban, Susan Vize, UNESCO representative to Bangladesh, Professor Kaiser Haq, dean, school of arts and humanities, ULAB, and Rani Ukhengching Marma, Mong circle chief鈥檚 representative, Khagrachhari, shared their observations.

The discussion, moderated by Oliur Rahman Sun, lecturer, department of English and humanities, ULAB, ended with a Q&A session.

Acting vice-chancellor of ULAB, Professor Milan Kumar Bhattacharya appreciated the initiative. Professor Shamsad Mortuza, special adviser to the ULAB board of trustees delivered the closing remarks.

Later, Peterson handed over certificates of completion to the 13 participants of the workshop.
