A 25-year-old youth was found dead after allegedly hanging himself from a ceiling fan at his residence in Hazaribagh of Dhaka early Thursday.
The deceased is Md Nazmul, son of Abul Bashar of Barguna Sadar upazila. He had been living with his family at a rented house in Vaucher area behind Live Care Hospital under Hazaribagh police station.
Bashar said his son fell sleep at night and secretly hanged himself from the ceiling fan. Later, when they noticed, rescued and took him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where physicians declared him dead upon arrival in the early morning.
The reason behind the suicide is unknown and Nazmul, a mason by profession, leaves behind a one-and-a-half-year-old son, the father said.
Md Faruk, in-charge of the DMCH police outpost said the body has been kept at the hospital morgue and the police station concerned was informed.
