Nurses of Habiganj District Sadar Adhunik Hospital observed a one-hour work abstention on Tuesday protesting against the attack on their fellow after a patient had died.

They also formed a human chain on the hospital premises during the work abstention starting from about 11:00am, demanding safety of nurses and exemplary punishment of the attackers.


The sources said that relatives of patient Shah Alam, 35, of Nurpur village of Shaistaganj upazila in the district, brought him to the hospital with respiratory problems at around 5:00am Tuesday following which he died at around 7:30am while he was undergoing treatment.

At that time, the patient鈥檚 relatives beat up the on-duty nurse Attin Nahar, claiming that Shah Alam died due to negligence in treatment, hospital staff said.

Addressing the human chain, speakers condemned the attack on their fellow and vowed to continue their movement if their demands were not met.

Senior staff nurse Salma Akhter, also in-charge of the operation theatre, emergency department in-charge Wasim Miah and senior staff nurse Munmun Akhter, among others, addressed the rally.

Hospital superintendent Aminul Haque Sarkar confirmed 抖阴精品 about the protest programme.

Stating the incident of beating a nurse over the death of a patient at the hospital was unacceptable, he said that the administration, after assuring the agitators of meeting their demands, persuaded them to resume work about noon.
