A 39-year-old man was shot dead by unidentified assailants at Madhya Badda in Dhaka early Wednesday.
The deceased, Mamun Shikdar, was a resident of Dumki in Patuakhali.
Quoting people of the area, Saiful Islam, officer-in-charge of Badda police, said that a group of armed miscreants opened fire on Mamun on the ground floor of a building in Commissioner Alley on Wednesday morning, leaving him dead on the spot.
Mamun used to work as a day labourer in the area.
On information, the police went to the spot and sent the body to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Efforts are on to arrest the attackers, said police.
