Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission in a press statement on Saturday said that the fire outside the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant was brought under control within just 40 minutes on Thursday.
The construction project authority of Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant said that there was no damage to the project in this incident and there was no impact on the overall operations of the project and work was underway to find out the origin of the fire.
A fire broke out while removing dumping wood waste next to the artificial channel created to maintain the flow of the Padma River and Ichamati River outside the RNPP boundaries.
A few workers of Imamul Enterprise working at the scene immediately reported the matter to the project鈥檚 control room and the control room informed the project鈥檚 own fire unit, Rooppur Modern Fire Station and Green City Fire Station as soon as possible.
The concerned fire units reached the spot and started the fire-fighting operation together. With their effective action, the fire was brought under control, mentioned the press release.
