Politicians, professionals, student leaders and cultural activists at a commemoration meeting in Dhaka on Saturday demanded an investigation to find the cause of the killings of two former student leaders in a road accident in Dhaka two years ago.
Former president of Bangladesh Chhatra Federation Arifur Rahman and central leader Souvik Karim Arjun were killed on November 7 in 2023, in Dhaka city when a truck hit them.
Ganosamhati Andolan organized the commemoration meeting at Sanskriti Bikash Kendra in Paribagh, where the chief coordinator of the party, Zonayed Saki, called on the interim government to investigate the causes of road accident and punish those responsible.
It was the responsibility of the government to find out the causes of the killings but it was unfortunate that no government took steps for conducting an investigation, Zonayed Saki said.
Executive coordinator of the party Abul Hassan Rubel said that both Afrif and Arjun were creative and their death in a road accident was unfortunate.
He called on the government to take immediate steps to stop road accidents, by which a huge number people are being killed now.
Ganosamhati central leaders Taslima Akhter, Julhasnyeen Babu, politician Shaidul Islam Sabuj,聽 singers Farzana Wahid Sayan, Bithi Ghosh, friends of Arif and Arjun Shah Hasibur Rahman, Habibur Rahman, Nesar Ahmed, Sajib Ahmed and relatives of two deceased and others, spoke in the programme.
