Bangladesh Resonaire, a social development-based non-profit organisation, in a seminar on Friday said that the organisation would provide digital literacy training to 40 youths from different educational institutions by December.
Apart from this, seven campus campaigns will be also carried out at different educational institutions to promote online safety, cyberbullying prevention and digital rights.
The seminar was held at the Abdullah Farouk Conference Hall at Dhaka University, said a press release.
Psychiatrist Dr Md Rahanul Islam, Supreme Court lawyer Ashraf Jalal Khan, Kaler Kantho associate editor Sanjida Islam Jui and founder of Polity Action Lab, India Nibedita Biswas were present in the seminar.
Ashraf Jalal said, ‘It is essential to increase social awareness on an individual level and campaigns should be conducted to raise public awareness about the Cyber Security Act.’
Rahanur Islam said that Cyberbullying caused psychological trauma for victims. ‘So, it is important to provide them with support. The state should also take a conscious role in this matter.’
Bangladesh Resonaire founder and president Jannatul Nowrin Urmi said, ‘Our goal is to build a generation who will use technology responsibly and stand against online harassment.’
The organisation also announced that cyberbullying victims would receive counselling and psychosocial support from three noted psychiatrists to help rebuild confidence and restore social harmony.
Bangladesh Resonare said that more awareness programmes would be launched in the coming months.
