A 35-year-old man was killed after being hit by a Dhaka South City Corporation garbage truck while crossing the road at Kalapatti in the capital鈥檚 Jatrabari area Thursday night.
The deceased is Iqbal Hossain, son of Abul Hossain from Paschim Chokra village in Banaripara upazila of Barishal. He lived in Dhalpur and worked at a laundry shop.
Iqbal died on the spot after being hit by the truck while crossing the road at around 10:00pm, police and hospital sources said.
The body of Iqbal was sent to the morgue of Dhaka Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
Police seized the truck and are investigating the incident.
Police said the truck was being driven by the driver鈥檚 assistant, who has been arrested.
