Chief adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has directed the authorities concerned to observe a weeklong fire safety preparedness across the country to ensure fire readiness in all public and private establishments.
He gave the instruction at an advisory council meeting held at the chief adviser鈥檚 office in Dhaka on Thursday.
鈥楾he chief adviser instructed all to dedicate a week to conduct fire safety preparedness inspection in all public and private institutions across the country to identify any shortcomings or lacking related to fire safety compliance,鈥� chief adviser鈥檚 press secretary Shafiqul Alam said.
Following the meeting, Shafiqul spoke at a press briefing at the Foreign Service Academy. Law adviser Professor Nazrul Islam also spoke.
Shafiqul Alam said that Professor Yunus also urged the advisers of the interim government to check fire safety preparedness of their respective government institutions.
Earlier, commerce and civil aviation adviser Sheikh Bashir Uddin briefed the meeting on the latest situation following the recent airport fire, noting that both cargo and flight operations had returned to normal.
However, he added that the affected cargo building remained under inspection.
A technical team led by Fakhrul Amin of BUET will assess the damaged cargo facility to determine how quickly it can be brought back into use.
To identify the cause of the fire, Shafiqul said, the government has also approached Scotland Yard in the UK, as well as authorities in Australia, China, and T眉rkiye, seeking forensic assistance in the investigation.
The press secretary said that the meeting also discussed election preparations, including the possible introduction of body worn cameras for police and CCTV installations at polling centres to ensure transparency and accountability during the upcoming national elections.
There was a discussion about how legally this can be done and how it will be operated, he added.
