Attorney general Mohammad Asaduzzaman has said that the government is determined to bring to justice those involved in crimes committed in the July–August mass uprising in the past year.

He made the remarks while addressing an exchange of views organised by Zia Cyber Force at the Teachers’ Association auditorium at Sailkupa in Jhenaidah on Friday.

In response to a question from journalists about whether the looted weapons and recently freed criminals can pose a threat to the upcoming election, the attorney general said, ‘No matter how powerful the offenders are, their influence is temporary. There will be no obstacle to the election. The victory will belong to the law and the people.’

He further said that the government was moving forward on the right path regarding both the election and the judicial process. ‘There will be differences in opinions and ideologies, but the government knows well how to deal with them. There is no reason to be worried or frustrated.’

Stating that the government is working tirelessly to restore the people’s right to vote, Asaduzzaman said, ‘After 17–18 years, the people of this country will finally experience the true spirit of voting. The government is using all its strength and dedication to ensure that right.’

Regarding the upcoming election, he said, ‘No matter the obstacles, the government will reach its intended goal.’

Zia Cyber Force central committee president Harunur Rashid and its general secretary Mia Mohammad Rajibul Islam, among others, were present at the programme.
