
The poultry science department of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University celebrated World Egg Day 2025 on the SAU campus in Dhaka on Sunday.
On the occasion, a rally was organised in front of the M Mahbubuuzzaman Academic Building of SAU, said a press release.
Member of the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh Professor Masuma Habib and vice-chancellor of the university Professor Md Abdul Latif inaugurated the rally releasing balloons and the symbolic flag of World Egg Day-2025.
To mark the day, a discussion was held at the Teachers-Students Centre building.
Assistant professor of the department of poultry science Sonia Tabasum Ahmed delivered welcome speech at the programme.
Speaking as the chief guest at the programme, Masuma Habib said, ‘Eggs are a balanced food that is essential for human health. Eggs are of immense importance in meeting nutritional deficiencies, starting from the development of the brain of children to adults and the elderly.’
Abdul Latif said, ‘The poultry sector is playing an important role in the country’s economy in Bangladesh. Employment has been created for millions of people through this sector.’
Chattogram Veterinary and Animal Sciences University vice-chancellor Professor Mohammad Lutfar Rahman, SAU pro-VC Professor Md Belal Hossain, treasurer Professor Muhammad Abul Bashar and World Poultry Science Association Bangladesh secretary general Mohammad Faizur Rahman were present as special guests at the event.
Moderated by Mayeeda Parvin, lecturer, department of poultry science, Maksuda Begum, chairperson 9f the department presented the keynote at the programme.
