A crude bomb explosion near a mosque at the Bihari camp in Mirpur on Friday morning left a 10-year-old boy critically injured.

The injured child has been identified as Tamim, the son of Anwar, a resident of the Bihari camp.

Witnesses and family members said Tamim took the crude bomb to be a plaything after he found it lying near the mosque around 10:00am.

The crude bomb exploded when he started playing with it.

The explosion inflicted severe injuries to his right hand and the right side of his abdomen.

Tamim’s grandfather, Jalal, rushed to the scene after hearing the explosion and rescued his grandson.

Doctors at Dhaka Medical College Hospital stated that Tamim’s condition was critical.

Inspector Md Faruk, in charge of the police outpost at the hospital, confirmed the incident.
