
Under the slogan ‘my country, my hope—let’s decorate homes with local furniture’, the country’s largest furniture industry event, National Furniture Fair 2025, is set to take place in Dhaka on October 14.
The five-day furniture fair will be held at Gulnoksha Hall, Pushpoguchcho Hall, and Rajdarshan Hall at International Convention City Bashundhara until October 18, said a press release.
These details were shared by the Bangladesh Furniture Shilpa Malik Samity at an online press conference held on Thursday to inform about the overall aspects of the fair.
According to the press conference, the official inauguration of the fair will take place at 10:30am at Rajdarshan Hall of ICCB Bashundhara.
The chief guest at the inauguration will be Sheikh Bashiruddin, adviser, Ministry of Commerce.
Special guests will include Mohammad Hasan Arif, vice-chairman and chief executive, Export Promotion Bureau, Bangladesh, and KM Aktaruzzaman, president, Bangladesh Furniture Exporters Association.
The programme will be chaired by Selim H Rahman, chairman, Bangladesh Furniture Shilpa Malik Samity.
The fair organisers have stated that the local furniture industry now meets 100 per cent of the domestic demand and exports a significant number of products abroad.
The main goal of this year’s fair is to promote the growth of the local furniture industry and further expand export markets.
A total of 48 leading furniture companies will participate in the fair, showcasing their latest designs and products across 278 stalls. Notable participating brands include Akhtar, Hatil, Brothers, Nadia, Ayoto, Omega, JMG, Navana, Athenas, Partex, Regal and Legacy.
The fair is open to everyone and no tickets are required for entry. Visitors can explore the fair daily from 10:00am to 9:00pm. In addition to furniture, the fair will also display home accessories and decorative items.
The committee and members for the 20th National Furniture Fair 2025 have already been announced. The convener of the fair is Sheikh Abdul Awal, vice-president of BFSMS.
The member secretary of the fair committee is Illeas Sarkar, while other committee members include Selim H Rahman, A Karim Majumder, Md Maksudur Rahman, Molla Sadaruddin Pitu, Dewan Atif Rashid, Nazmul Hasan Abed, Md Delwar Hossain, Saifuddin Chowdhury Dulal, and Md Moniruzzaman.
On the inauguration day of the fair, a children’s drawing competition will be held. Registration will start at 2:00pm and the competition will begin at 4:00pm.
A total of 20 children will be awarded prizes, with a total prize money of approximately Tk 2,00,000.
The overall management of the fair is handled by the Design and Technology Centre.
