An auto-rickshaw driver was killed on Monday when a truck plunged from an overpass on Dhaka-Narayanganj link in Bhuighar bus stand area under Fatullah in Narayanganj district.
The deceased is identified as Mohor Uddin, 55.
Eyewitnesses said that the speedy truck suddenly lost control in the afternoon and rammed into the railing to fall down from the Bhuighar overpass.
The truck hit Mohor who was crossing the overpass on his auto-rickshaw.
Some other beside him were also slightly injured.
Mohor was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, said the hospital police outpost in-charge Faruk Ahmed.
He died there in the evening while undergoing treatment, he added.
Vehicular movement at the spot stopped soon after the accident.
Narayanganj fire services deputy director Abdullah Al Arefin said that they removed the truck from the spot, restoring normalcy in vehicular movement.聽
The truck driver and his assistant fled.聽
Fatullah police officer-in-charge Shariful Islam said that they visited the spot and launched a probe.
