The police on Wednesday said that they had recovered the throat-slit body of a woman day laborer from an under-construction building in Khulna city and arrested four suspects in connection with the killing.

The deceased was Monwara Begum Supti, 43, a resident of Shovna union under Dumuria in Khulna. She had been living in a rented house at Mostar Mor in the city.


The police recovered her decomposed body in a bathroom of a building in the KDA Moyuri Residential Area around 11:30am on Tuesday and they arrested four suspects in this connection, said the police.

The arrested are Yusuf, Humayun Kabir, Johora and Shilpi.

According to police and locals, law enforcers were conducting an operation in the area to arrest Yusuf, a fugitive accused in multiple drug cases.

While searching nearby houses, the police detected a strong stench and found the body. Later, Yusuf and his associates were detained and reportedly confessed to the crime.

Officer-in-charge of Harintana police Touhidur Rahman said that the motive was not yet confirmed, but the woman might have been killed over money or after resisting sexual assault.

Shah Jamal Sardar Soaal, the victim鈥檚 son, filed a case against the accused with the Harintana police station in this connection.
