Members of the Rapid Action Battalion recovered a touchstone statue weighing about five maunds, 190 kg, and arrested two people in the South Aman area under Kusumbi Union of Sherpur upazila in Bogura.
The arrested are Abul Bashar Rubel, 55, of Sherua Forest Gate area under Bandegi Union, and Al Amin, 48, of Sirajganj Sadar upazila.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of RAB-12 conducted a drive Sunday afternoon inside a machine room on the bank of a pond in the area. The team recovered the statue hidden under a haystack and arrested Abul Bashar and Al Amin for their alleged involvement, said Squadron Leader Firoz Ahmed, company commander of RAB-12 Bogura camp.
