The members of the Border Guard Bangladesh arrested two Indians and seized a pistol and 93 rounds of bullets from their possession at Benapole border in Jashore district early Sunday.
The arrestees are Orjit Saluga, 31, of Betul in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh, and Ram Dasnauwadi, 24, of the same area, BGB officials said.
Orjit is a driver of a truck that had been carrying imported green chili into Bangladesh from India, and Ram is his assistant.
BGB’s 49 battalion commanding officer Lieutenant Colonel Saifullah Siddiqui said that the BGB personnel found the firearm and bullets when they had been checking the goods-laden truck at about 1:45am on Sunday, as soon as it had entered Bangladesh territory through Benapole border.
He said that they filed a case in this connection and handed the duo over to Benapole police station for taking further legal action.
