
The police have submitted charge-sheets in 34 cases linked to the July Uprising before the courts in different parts of Bangladesh.
Of the submitted charge-sheets, 13 charge-sheets were submitted in murder cases and 21 charge-sheets were placed under other sections before the courts, said a Police Headquarter press release issued on Tuesday.
The 13 charge-sheets in the murder cases were submitted before the courts by police of Sherpur, Feni, Chandpur, Cumilla, Dhaka and Kurigram districts, the Police Bureau of Investigation, the Rajshashi Metropolitan Police and the Chittagong Metropolitan Police.
The 21 other charge-sheets were submitted before the courts by the police of Bogura, Chapainawabganj, Sirajganj, Pabna, Naogaon, Mymensingh and Jamalpur districts, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police, the Barisal Metropolitan Police, and the Rajshahi Metropolitan Police.
Charge sheets were given against 1,390 accused in the murder cases and 777 accused in other cases.
Senior police officers are supervising the cases to ensure proper investigation of the cases filed during the mass uprising in the past year, added the PHQ release.
