
A training workshop titled Applications of Financial Management of Public Sector: Focus on University’s Management was held at Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University in Dhaka on Saturday.
SAU vice-chancellor Professor Md Abdul Latif was present as chief guest at the workshop, said a press release.
He said, ‘It is possible to further enrich quality education and research activities through disciplined and modernised financial management in higher education institutions.’
Pro-VC of the university, Professor Md Belal Hossain, and treasurer, Professor Md Abul Bashar, were present as special guests at the programme, which was presided over by IQAC director Professor Md Razzab Ali.
The keynote in the workshop was presented by Md Rezaul Karim Howlader, director of the finance and accounts department of the Bangladesh University Grants Commission.
With the overall support of the University Institutional Quality Assurance Cell, the importance of financial management in training, increasing transparency and accountability and strategies for effective policy formulation were discussed in detail.
Sixty finance-related officers from the finance and accounts branch, audit cell, planning development and works branch, engineering department, stores, estate branch, central farm, central library, IQAC, SAURES and ICT branch of SAU participated in the workshop.
