
Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation organised a workshop on ‘non-urea fertiliser import, transportation, storage and distribution management’ at the seminar room of Krishi Bhaban at the BADC headquarters in Dhaka on Monday.
Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture Mohammad Emdadullah Mian was present as chief guest at the workshop, which was presided over by BADC chairman Md Ruhul Amin Khan, said a press release.
Ruhul Amin Khan said that the BADC was carrying out the task of importing non-urea fertilisers from different countries under the state agreements signed under the supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture and delivering them to the farmers of the country.
‘As a result of proper fertiliser management activities, no artificial crisis of non-urea fertilisers has been seen anywhere in the country,’ he mentioned.
He said that the process of taking back the warehouses of BADC used by other institutions for more secure and balanced storage of fertilisers was underway. ‘Some warehouses have already been returned.’
The chairman of BADC also said that BADC could contribute more to agriculture and advised everyone to work with a responsible and accountable attitude towards that end.
Additional secretary and joint secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and BADC officials were present at the workshop.
