
The interim government carried out a major reshuffle in police with 36 senior police officers reshuffled on Monday, including new appointments of police superintendents in seven districts, ahead of the national elections.
The changes were made through separate notifications, issued by the public security division of home ministry.
A notification, signed by deputy secretary Md Mahbubur Rahman, said that the government had posted new superintendents of police in seven districts of the country.
According to the notification, new SPs have been appointed in Barguna, Bagerhat, Narsingdi, Narayanganj, Meherpur, Narail and Natore.
Police officers, who served as SPs in seven districts, were transferred to different units of Bangladesh police and made officer on special duty under public security division of home ministry.
The order will be implemented immediately in the public interest.
The government also made a reshuffle in senior level of police officers postings, transferring newly promoted 18 additional inspectors general and supernumerary additional inspectors general.
Home ministry鈥檚 another statement said that 12 newly promoted additional IGPs and six DIGs were transferred with new assignments, some with elevated ranks, while the order would be enforced with immediate effect.
According to the notification, 12 additional IGPs in current charges who were recently promoted as additional IGPs while the rests too were promoted as supernumerary additional IGPs and were transferred to new positions.
Of them Md Golam Rasul was posted as special branch chief, Md AKM Awlad Hossain, Md Akram Hossain Abu Naser Mohammad Khaled, Khandkar Rafiqul Islam, Mosleh Uddin Ahmad and Sardar Nurul Amin were transferred to police headquarters.
Among the other new additional IGPs, Hasib Aziz was posted to Chattogram as the port city鈥檚 police commissioner, Gazi Jashim Uddin was posted as industrial police chief, Md Rezaul Karim as police anti-terrorism unit chief, Md Mostafa Kamal as police bureau of investigation chief, Md Sibgat Ullah as criminal investigation department chief and Md Ali Hossain Fakir as armed police battalion chief.
The rest of the officers to discharge as deputy inspectors general but with supernumerary additional IGPs are GZ Azizur Rahman in SB, Md Sarwar in DMP as additional police commissioner, Md Fazlul Karim at police headquarters, Rezaul Karim at police telecom and Md Ahsan Habib Palash at Chattogram Range.
Meanwhile, the government transferred 11 deputy inspectors general of Police to new stations.
The home ministry issued a gazette notification, signed by deputy secretary Md Mahbubur Rahman, in this regard on the same day.
According to the notification, the order issued on public interest will be effective immediately.
