Around 1,500 kilometres highways and roads under the Roads and Highways Department required repair at present, said the department chief engineer Syed Moinul Hasan on Monday.
After an inter-ministry meeting, held at the Road Transport and Highways Division conference room in the secretariat, he shared the information.
After the meeting, road transport and bridges ministry adviser Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan told the journalists that they had formed some committees to repair all roads and highways across the country during this rainy season together by the ministries of road transport, public works and local government.
‘We got positive result this year by working together on the waterlogging situation in Chattogram city,’ he said.
Following this they would do the same work for the entire country, he added.
Another committee had been formed, led by the special assistant to the chief adviser — Sheik Moinuddin — to review the formula of fixing the cost of the projects to reduce the project costs, the adviser further said.
Senior officials from the ministries of road transport, public works and local government were present at the meeting.
