Professor Mohammad Ayub Islam, department of accounting, University of Chittagong, has joined the Bangladesh University Grants Commission as a member on Monday.
The secondary and higher education department of the Ministry of Education issued a notification appointing Professor Ayub Islam as a member of the commission for a period of four years on Sunday, said a press release.
Professor Ayub Islam served as chairman of the department of accounting and bureau of business research, University of Chittagong.
In addition, he served as director of Chittagong Stock Exchange and adviser to the school of business of Chittagong Independent University and coordinator of the MBA programme.
He earned his PhD from Chittagong University and completed a postdoctoral fellowship from the University of Aberdeen in the United Kingdom.
Professor Ayub Islam received the Commonwealth Academic Staff Fellowship and Chancellor鈥檚 Award for outstanding achievement in undergraduate and postgraduate programmes at Chittagong University.
The UGC Officers鈥� Association and Employees鈥� Union congratulated Ayub Islam on being appointed as a full-time member.
