The number of students collecting nomination papers for the elections to the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union reached 125 as 64 collected nomination papers on the sixth day of the distribution of the papers on Sunday.

Chief election commissioner Mohammad Zashim Uddin disclosed the information at a briefing in front of the chief returning officer’s office at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Building of the university in the afternoon.


Of the 64 forms collected on Sunday, five were for vice-president, one for general secretary, three for assistant general secretary, 23 for secretary and 32 for member positions.

On the same day, 25 aspirants submitted their nomination papers taking to 38 the number of nomination filed.

So far, 125 nomination papers have been collected in six days — 19 for vice-president, 2 for general secretary, five for assistant general secretary, 44 for secretaries and 55 for member positions.

The nomination paper collection began on August 12 and candidates would be allowed to collect nomination forms till August 18. The deadline for submission of nominations is August 19 at 3:00pm.

The DUCSU elections are scheduled for September 9.

The latest DUCSU elections were held on March 11, 2019 after a 28-year gap.
