Over Tk 16 lakh was stolen from a Krishi bank branch in Rupsha upazila in Khulna district on Friday.
The theft is believed to have taken place sometime between Thursday evening and 10:30pm on Friday, said police.
The incident came to light at about10:00pm on Friday when the security guard of the bank found the main collapsible gate of the bank broken.
Mohammad Mahfuzur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Rupsha Police Station, said that a group of thieves stole Tk聽16 lakh from the bank after breaking open the vault sometime on Friday night.
Police collected the CCTV footages from the area to investigate the theft.
At about10:00pm on Friday, a security guard found the collapsible gate of the bank鈥檚 main entrance broken.
Manager of the bank Kamrul Islam said that a total of Tk 16.16 lakh was found missing from the bank vault.
Three security guards of the bank 鈥� Afzal, Abul Kashem and Tariqul 鈥� were detained for interrogation.
