The High Court on Thursday directed the authorities to identify those involved in looting stones from Bholaganj in Sylhet and submit a list within 60 days.
The court also ordered the government to recover the looted stones and return them to their original location within seven days.
The bench of Justice Kazi Zinat Hoque and Justice Aynun Nahar Siddiqua passed the order after hearing a public interest litigation filed by Human Rights and Peace for Bangladesh.
The court set Thursday to pass further order.
The petitioner Manzill Murshid challenged the government鈥檚 inaction, which allegedly allowed illegal lifting and shifting of stones to various parts of Sylhet city.
