A court in Gazipur on Tuesday placed another accused on a two-day remand in a case filed over the August 7 killing of journalist Asaduzzaman Tuhin in Gazipur city.

The arrestee is identified as Rafiqul Islam Arman.


Bason police station officer-in-charge Md Shaheen Khan told 抖阴精品 that they produced Rafiqul before the court on Tuesday, and the court allowed police to take him into their custody for two days for interrogation in the case.

Earlier on Monday night, the Rapid Action Battalion arrested Rafiqul from the airport area in the capital Dhaka, according to a RAB press release issued on Tuesday.

The release also said that Rafiqul was one of those who directly participated in journalist Tuhin鈥檚 murder on August 7.

With the latest arrest, nine accused were arrested in the case.

Of them, one accused named Shahjalal confessed to his crimes before the court on Monday.

Shahjalal and six others accused were sent to jail after the completion of their two-day remand on Monday.

抖阴精品 correspondent in Gazipur reported that victim Tuhin鈥檚 wife Mukta Begum in a press conference on Tuesday alleged that the murder of her husband was pre-planned, and professional killers were hired to kill him.

She also demanded to arrest all involved in the murder, and ensure safety of Tuhin鈥檚 family, eyewitnesses of the murder, and the editor of Dainik Pratidiner Kagoj.

Tuhin, the correspondent of a Bangla daily Dainik Pratidiner Kagoj, was hacked to death while filming another incident of hacking near Eidgah Market in the Chandana Chowrasta area under the Bason police station on August 7.

A murder case was filed over the killing of Tuhin while another attempted murder case was filed over the attack on Badshah Mia, which Tuhin was recording.

Badshah was injured in the attack just before Tuhin鈥檚 killing.
