A Rajshahi court on Monday sent retired police inspector Faridul Islam Khan to jail in a case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission over the accumulation of illegal wealth worth Tk 1.54 crore.

Judge Mosammat Musarrat Jerin of the Divisional Special Judge Court passed the order after rejecting his bail plea, confirmed ACC public prosecutor Bazle Tawhid Al Hasan Babla.


Faridul Islam Khan, who last served in the Police Bureau of Investigation in Rajshahi before retiring, currently resides in the city’s Boro Kuthipara area.

His village home is in Subornogati village under Sirajganj Sadar upazila.

Bazle Tawhid Al Hasan Babla said that the anti-corruption commission filed the case against Faridul in 2024, accusing him of amassing illegal assets worth over Tk 1.54 crore.

A warrant was previously issued for his arrest.

‘On Monday, Faridul appeared before the court and sought bail through his lawyer,’ said public prosecutor Babla, adding the court rejected his bail plea and passed an order to send him to jail custody.
