At least four people were killed as a train hit a compressed natural gas-run auto-rickshaw at a level crossing in Rashidnagar area of Ramu upazila in Cox鈥檚 Bazar on Saturday.
The level crossing was unauthorised with no gate or manpower, said officials of Bangladesh Railway.
All victims in the accident were travelling by the auto-rickshaw. Agitated local people blocked another train at the spot for around three hours protesting at the incident.
Identities of the deceased could not be ascertained immediately after the accident.
Railway鈥檚 Ramu station assistant master Akhter Hossain said that the accident took place at about 2:00pm.
