
A report on Thursday revealed that 235 women and girls faced violence in July.
Of them, 74 women, including 45 girls, were raped, said the report published by Bangladesh Mahila Parishad that tallied the data based on information taken from 15 dailies.
In the incidents of rape and attempted rape, 11 women, including four girls, were gang-raped, one was killed after rape, one rape victim girl died by suicide afterwards and attempts were made to rape 10 women.聽
During the time period, 66 women, including 10 girls, were killed, 11 died mysterious deaths, and 18 women, including three domestic helps, committed suicide.聽
Regarding sexual violence, 15 females, including nine girls, were victims, while three women were tortured for dowry, and six others were subjected to domestic violence.
Meanwhile, 10 women, including eight girls, were abducted and ten women were subjected to trafficking.
The report also mentioned that six women faced various other forms of violence, two attempts of child marriage were reported, three were subjected to physical assault and three women were subjected to acid attacks.
Earlier between January and June this year, the Mahila Parishad reported that 1,555 women and girls faced violence. Among them, 481 women, including 345 girls, were raped and 17 were killed after rape.聽
