Devotees and followers of different shrines at a protest rally in front of the National Press Club in Dhaka said that the conspiracy hatched by a vested quarter to relocate the High Court Mazar from its present location will be foiled.

The protest rally was organised by Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat, a platform of shrines across Bangladesh.

Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat secretary general Abdullah Al-Maruf and its central leader Kahaja Arifur Rahman Tahery, among others, spoke at the event chaired by its co-chairman Mufti Mahiuddin Latifi Al Qaderi.

Abdullah Al-Maruf said that the government should ensure the security of 12 thousand shrines across the country.

Mufti Mahiuddin Latifi Al Qaderi said that after the mass uprising in 2024, a vested quarter attacked the shrines and devotees across Bangladesh.

Qaderi added that the government should focus on bringing the attackers to justice.

The speakers also said that the government failed to control mob violence and took no legal action against attacks on more than a hundred shrines.

They added that attacks on shrines were not acceptable.

After the rally, the protesters brought out a procession from the National Press Club which ended after reaching the Chishti Beheshti shrine located on the Supreme Court premises.
